Sponsors: Cleveland Competition Dru McKeown The first of what hopes to be an annual Cleveland sponsored design competition. Project site is commonly known as "Irish Town Bend" and consisted of a steep sloped site along the West bank of the Cuyahoga River in Cleveland, Ohio. Attention was paid to existing poor soil conditions and and the creation of local amenities that would revitalize pedestrian movement along West 25th without requiring the development or purchase of expensive housing stock. Design was developed with the idea that the existing population is already at the critical point where more amenities are required to provide for growth instead of banking on expansion of a newly created bedroom residential population. Program calls for multiple local not for profit and educational groups to take advantage of a centralized location. |
